IIRC, if your device & system are on different subnets, it's still
possible to debug on your device.  If you check the troubleshooting
section on the "Debug on Device" page, it gives you instructions on
how to handle this situation:

Another thing to check would be ports:  you don't have any firewalls
restricting your ports, do you?
