[mono-android] Mac issue

I'm continually getting an issue in MonoDroid on the mac.  When I try and build even a simple project and deploy it on my mac, I get the message:
MonoDroid projects must be built before uploading.

Does this message have some type of special meaning?  Have I missed something?
