No. You do not have to use MonoDroid it is freedom of choice...

In the nature there are generally two concepts:

    * either I'm big, strong and called Mufasa or Simba and nobody can
      touch me (are You?),
    * or I live in large shoal/school (herrings, sardines...)
      or herds (caribou, GNUs <- funny assoc) where leaving the group
      makes You
      vounerable/weak.

I'm impressed how humans tend (because of their egos) to split their 
groups into smaller groups
until cardinality of the group == 1; And then they vanish...

IMHO stick to group, help the community and MonoDroid is the best bet....
