[MonoDevelop] Not saving build output

I'm trying to compile a Linux version of someone else's Windows app.  It's a
Visual C++ 2008 project.
The IDE says that the build is sucessful but nothing got saved, it doesn't
even create the Bin/ directory.  I've tried creating the directory myself
and even running as root to no avail.  All the IDE settings are default. 
I'm running it on Linux Mint 17.1
If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate
it.
