[MonoDevelop] Compiler Error: GetReferenceAssemblyPaths

I am having trouble compiling a C# solution with the Xamarin IDE (mono 3.3.0
set as default .net runtime). The error I'm getting is:

Error building target GetReferenceAssemblyPaths: UNC paths should be of the
form \\server\share.

I scoured the internet for some possible solution and the only thing I could
find was this:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19933266/error-building-c-sharp-solution-using-xbuild-mono

I looked at my project file and I do not have any double-backslashes
anywhere that may 'confuse' the compiler. Is there anything else I can look
for or at?

Side note, if I switch the default runtime to ms .net, it complies without
issue.
