[MonoDevelop] Configure Error on CentOS 6.2

I've been trying to get Monodevelop on CentOS 6.2 for some time.  I
downloaded, configured, compiled, and installed mono without a hitch.
 "mono --version" says its version 2.10.2.

Configure for monodevelop sources (the latest stable) say it can't find
mono version 2.8 or higher.
I get the same message also from the GTK-sharp source's configure..
