[MonoDevelop] What is the command under Linux to build .cs fi les corresponding to "csc.exe" under Windows?

After using gmcs, I can obtain a "project.exe" file.
Say, "gmcs project.cs" I can obtain "project.exe".
But how to run this "project.exe" file under Linux for testing, well, still
using command line?
