[MonoDevelop] Installing MonoDevelop on the Mac

Hello again,
After having received more information (some of it contradictory), I guess "maybe" the Git version of MonoDevelop has code completion for C on the Mac.
Trying to install it now has proven to be a headache-inducing challenge. I get the following unclear error:
./configure: line 2697: syntax error near unexpected token `UNMANAGED_DEPENDENCIES_MONO,mono'
./configure: line 2697: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES(UNMANAGED_DEPENDENCIES_MONO,mono >= $MONO_REQUIRED_VERSION, has_mono=true, has_mono=false)'
Now I have googled this up and down, and I did install mono 2.8.2 a long time ago, and I did install pkgconfig, and msgfmt. I was able to find the pkgconfig directory inside of the mono framework, so I set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH to that directory but it solved nothing. I am really unclear as to how to move on, I really just want to see the IDE, and all this text is frustrating me.
Suggestions?
