[MonoDevelop] Problem with developing in python

I can't seems to get MonoDevelop working. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, and
installed MonoDevelop from the Software Center.

I try to write Python programs in it hoping for the code hinting, however,
it wouldn't work. I'm also getting a Syntax error at the first line of code
in my program (like import os)

What's going on?
