[MonoDevelop] How to enabled Git?

I thought I'd enable the Git plugin so that I could tinker with
MonoDevelop source as well and see how it is progressing, but I can't
seem to find out how. It doesn't show up in the standard config menu
(which someone mentioned before) and using "--enable-git" as Lluis
suggested [1] just gives me an "unknown argument" error message from
configure.

>From a quick grep I've found that ./configure --enable-git works in the
"main" sub-folder, but is that really the only way to enable git at the
moment? It seems like running ./configure at the root would override
anything I did in sub-folders.

Thanks,
