[MonoDevelop] C# System.Xml

Hello,
        I am trying to compile a very very simple console based project in
MonoDevelop. After creating the console based project I just added a single
line: *using System.Xml; *and I get the following error:
*The type or namespace name 'Xml' does not exist in the name 'system'. Are
you missing an assembly reference?*
