Hi

I've just checked in a new text rendering backend. It should solve
drawing problems on MacOSX and performance problems on Windows.

(Should be faster under linux as well)

The downside is that there may be rendering errors in the next few days
which I'll fix asap. If you use the SVN version in a productive
environment wait a few days with the update. 
I've been working with the new rendering backend for a while and all
seems fine (that's why I check it in).
