[MonoDevelop] Problem with ammending menus

Hello,
I have just tried to amend a drop down menu in mainwindow. The designer
shows the new item  and action added  but the new action is not present in
the menu when I execute the program. Properties list it as visible and I
cleaned & rebuilt everything. Can anyone tell me what is going wrong?
