[MonoDevelop] Monodevelop Custom Controls

Hi,
I'm looking to making some custom controls that i can re-use in a project
for Monodevelop 2.0.  I've look at the Custom Control video clip that on the
Monodevelop website, and am using that as a guide.

My challenge is i want to use custom datatypes other than the standard
string and string[] thats supported at design-time in the toolbox.  In one
of the cases i want to subclass and extend the functionality of the
treeview, with a visual column editor - similar to what we see in VS with
WinForms.

Any guide lines of how i can achieve this.

P.S. I'm not new to programming but i'm a newbie to MD and Gtk#,  previous
windows platform: Delphi 2007, VC++ : also Qt/KDE C++ and python-qt on linux
