[MonoDevelop] Help re: "compiler not found: g++"

Hi there - I'm probably being dumb, but I can't find information on this
*anywhere*.

I'm new to linux, using ubuntu and have just started trying to compile some
C++ programs using monodevelop.

I get this error:
"compiler not found: g++"

I *know* gcc is on my system: it's in /usr/bin/gcc & gcc-4.3

So how do I tell Monodevelop where to find it?
