[MonoDevelop] Unsupported Project Type Error

Oh, okay.
When you said "I (...) am new to Mono. I have version 1.0 installed", it
wasn't clear to me that you were talking about MonoDevelop.
I'm not on Linux right now so can't double check, but I think "mono
--version" or "mono-runtime --version" should give you your Mono version.
