Similar circumstances here, though the only indication I have of anything
happening is the MonoDevelop icon bouncing in my Dock. Here's my precise
installation procedure, in order, on a PowerBook G3 running OS X 10.4.11.
This was my first installation of these apps:

1) Installed X11 from my original Tiger DVD.

2) Ran Software Update to get the latest X11 update. (Other Mac OS X
updates, such as the latest iTunes and Java and Security Updates, have not
yet been applied; would the lack of these updates cause any problems with
Mono or MonoDevelop?)

3) Installed the Mono 2 binary package. Running "mono --version" in the
console reports "Mono JIT compiler version 2.0.1 (tarball)."

4) Tested Mono by following the instructions on
http://mono-project.com/Mono_Basics and everything appears to work fine.

5) Installed the MonoDevelop 1.9 (beta) binary package.

My system is a PowerBook G3 500MHz ("Pismo") w/1024 GB RAM. If anyone can
help, please let me know if you need any other information.
