Quick workaround: Edit->preferences>keybindings, add a keybinding for
the "edit references" command.
Also, I believe recent Macs have support for true right-click with
some kind of multi-finger tap on the trackpad.

You can insert the command into the Project menu using a simple
.addin.xml file. The mailing list have an example of this I posted a
while back.
For the next release, I'll add it to the project menu. There's also a
patch in bugzilla for opening the dialog when double-clicking on the
references folder, and I'll apply that too.
