[MonoDevelop] how to use task list?

Hej,

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but how does one use the task
list feature?  In preferences I can see some predefined tags like 'TODO',
etc.  I would assume it's as simple as including this string somewhere in
the comment line like so:

//TODO - I still need to write a function that will peel the potato...

and then I click on the task list and select 'comments' and shazaam! my tags
are listed there! ... but they're not. I'm sure this is a no-brainer but I'm
willing to lose face to be enlightened.
