I have similar problems on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04 LTS) and I installed from
source after I realized that the packaged release for SLED-10 from the
opensuse repository was unstable. I followed the instructions at the
mono-project web site so now everything mono-related on my Ubuntu system is
compiled from source. I then built monodevelop-2.0 from source, first using
the monodevelop.com "stable" release and then the public svn. They are both
unstable -- after changing the mainwindow properties a few times (GTK#
solution) everything goes haywire and the monodevelop IDE window closes. I
guess it will take a while before monodevelop-2.0 becomes more stable.

Hello!

I am thinking about starting a .NET project (C#) on Linux using Mono and
Monodevelop. I installed Mono v2.4 and Monodevelop v2.0 on my OpenSUSE
11.1 machine. I did this installation following the instructions on the
Mono web site (I did *not* compile from source).
