[MonoDevelop] Weird Installation on Linux Mint

I noticed the same thing, but I'm using vanilla Ubuntu. On the download page
the only indication of version (in regard to Packages) seems to be the line
on top that says the latest stable version is 2.0. It would be helpful to
have versions clearly indicated for the various package links. It's a
little disappointing to:

a. get pumped about 2.0
b. uninstall 1.0
c. go to the download page and click on the Ubuntu package link
d. realize it just installed the 1.0 package, which was already available
via the repository and was exactly what I already had installed in the first
place...

And of course, having a monodevelop 2.0 package for Ubuntu would be gold:-)

Daniel, or anyone:

Is compiling from source on Ubuntu pretty straight-forward? I've just been
hoping to see a 2.0 package pop up on the website, but if it's no big
hassle, I might just compile from source. The comment on the download page
saying "compiling in this order will yield the most favorable response"
sounded like a tactful way of saying "try in this order and hope for the
best!" so I just wasn't interested in trying...but perhaps I'll give it a go
tonight.

That said, mono and monodevelop are projects I recently came onto that I'm
very excited about; big thanks to the community that's developing them!
