[MonoDevelop] glib update screwed gtk-sharp

Hi
I have updated to mono 1.9 on a debian system and am now trying to
install the most recent monodevelop ...for this I have installed a
more recent glib package .. in order to compile gtk-sharp .... but
this has caused atk .. which is listed is also needing update to fail
due to incompatibility with the updated glib (pkg-config mismatch with
GLIB environment variable)
.. this is what I find frustrating about open source ..
anyone been down this route and has a map?
