[MonoDevelop] how do you update a value displayed in designer?

I have created a small test widget with a label and used a property to access
the labels text value. This shows up ok on the widgets properties in the
properties window. What code do I have to write to update the value
displayed in the designer to reflect a change in value entered by the user
in the properties window at design time?
