[MonoDevelop] VB.NET

I am a VB developer, been at it many more years than I like to admit. :-)
Question is simple.  Is Monodevelop intended for a VB.NET designer?  It does seems to properly format and color code VB source, but not even a very simple program compiles.  Is this a new or future feature?  If this is intended to be part of the IDE, how might I as a long time VB designer with a lot of Windows experience, finally serious about moving to Linux, contribute to this effort?  Are there specific areas that need work that I should look at?
