So it's crashing when the ActiveConfiguration is null? I wonder if
this is a wider problem. There are quite a few places in MD where
ActiveConfiguration is assumed to be non-null, but this is usually
when building/running, before which it's probably checked elsewhere.

The patch looks good to me, so I've committed it. Thanks! In future
please provide a ChangeLog entry.

BTW, I'm fairly certain this isn't an ASP.NET issue :P
