[MonoDevelop] monodevelop on ppc mac os x tiger

i've been getting monodevelop running on an imac g5 ppc running mac
os x v10.4 (tiger) and xcode tools 2.4 release.

first I tried following the instructions posted at monodevelop.org/
Running_On_OSX but got stuck with dependancy issues. then i managed
to get monodevelop 0.9-1022 built using fink, but when i launch x11
xterm and run $ /sw/bin/monodevelop I get the following error (edited):

(./MonoDevelop.exe:2335): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2201:
initialization assertion failed, use g_type_init() prior to this
function

GLib-GObject-ERROR **: file gvaluetypes.c: line 393
(g_value_types_init): assertion failed: (type == G_TYPE_CHAR)
aborting...

Stacktrace:

   at (wrapper managed-to-native) Gnome.Program.g_type_init ()
...
   at MonoDevelop.Startup.SharpDevelopMain.Main (string[])
   at (wrapper runtime-invoke) System.Object.runtime_invoke_int_string
[] (object,intptr,intptr,intptr)

my guess is that during the build of monodevelop or a dependancy,
something specific wasn't configured right for os x. i am able to
compile and run a simple c# application.

any ideas as to what my next steps might be? has anyone had any luck
getting monodevelop working with os x using another approach?

thanks,
/.ndrew
