Thanks for your reply David. I suspected the same as you, when I made 
the change, but before looking into the code I compiled it and tested 
and it worked :)

Some time ago I made a patch to handle this l10n issue in other part of 
the code (the patch is here[1]) so it's possible that the l10n 
conversion is getting made there, instead of the code part where goes 
this change.
