All,
I was able to get monodevelop version 0.7.0.0 to work under mandriva LE
2005. I first had to get urpmi pointed properly.
This was accomplished through use of the following urpmi commands:
urpmi.addmedia plf-free
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandriva/free/2006.0
with hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia plf-nonfree
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandriva/non-free/2006
.0 with hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia --update updates
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/upd
ates/2006.0/main_updates/ with media_info/hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia main
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/200
6.0/i586/media/main with media_info/hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia jpackage
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/200
6.0/i586/media/jpackage with media_info/hdlist.cz
followed by:
urpmi mono
urpmi monodevelop
I see that monodevelop is up to version 1.1.13.6 so the mandriva rpms
are a bit behind. In the future,
I'll attempt to learn to compile the sources, but for now I have an IDE
from which this old C programming
dog might learn new tricks.

Subject: Unable to run monodevelop
All and anyone,
I have been attempting to run monodevelop after installing mono using
the mono-1.1.13.4_0-installer.bin. My distro is Mandriva LE 2005 which
was upgraded from Mandrake 10.2.
uname -a shows:
[root at jjacobs ~]# uname -a
Linux jjacobs 2.6.12-12mdksmp #1 SMP Fri Sep 9 17:43:23 CEST 2005 i686
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz unknown GNU/Linux
mono is installed in /opt/mono-1.1.13-4. I have added the environment
variable $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME with the value /usr/local/mozilla which is
the directory where libxpcom.so lives.
I keep getting the error, "Cannot find mozilla installation directory.
Please set MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to your mozilla directory."
Below is a sequence of commands that show an attempt to run
monodevelop. The preceding commands and following "ls" show how my
envrionment is set up.
[root at jjacobs mozilla]# echo $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME
/usr/local/mozilla
[root at jjacobs mozilla]# cd $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME
[root at jjacobs mozilla]# pwd
/usr/local/mozilla
[root at jjacobs mozilla]# ls libxpcom.so
libxpcom.so*
[root at jjacobs mozilla]# cd /opt/mono-1.1.13.4/bin/
[root at jjacobs bin]# ./monodevelop
Cannot find mozilla installation directory. Please set
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to your mozilla directory
[root at jjacobs bin]# ls -al $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME

Any help in getting monodevelop to find the mozilla installation
directory would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jeff Jacobs
