[MonoDevelop] MonoDevelop 0.5 won't edit

All:

I've installed mono 1.0 and monodevelop 0.5 and the related packages
from the Mono red carpet channel on a RH 9 system with Ximian Desktop
2 also from red carpet, and I'm having a problem: when I double-click
on a .cs file in a project, the file is opened in the Nautilus file
viewer, not in the MonoDevelop editor...

I've checked the MIME mappings and they appear correct: .cs maps to
monodevelop, and when I double-click a .cs file in the nautilus file
browser, it opens MonoDevelop - but Monodevelop immediately turns
around and uses the Nautilus file viewer to display the file!

What else might I be missing?
