http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/mono-devel-listOnce again, the
Mono team is happy to announce that we are participating in the Google
Summer of Code 2012! Last year was a great success, and we hope this year
will be even better!

>From now until the 26th, students and mentoring organizations come together
to discuss project ideas. Take this time to introduce yourself, get to know
the community, discuss your ideas with us, fix bugs, file some patches and
show us how excited you are about coding the summer away!

As usual, project ideas and rules are available on our GSoC
page<http://mono-project.com/Gsoc> [1]. The
ideas list has been updated recently, so don't be surprised if some things
have moved around or disappeared. Feel free to choose one or more ideas
from that page, or tell us about your own awesome idea!

Our mailing lists should be your first stop (like this one). In general,
Mono devs can be found in the
mono<http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/mono-list>or
mono-devel <http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/mono-devel-list>mailing
lists. There's also the
monodevelop-devel<http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/monodevelop-devel-list>mailing
list for MD development, and you can reach the docs team for docs
or orchard-related projects in the
mono-docs<http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/mono-docs-list>list.
This is by no means exhaustive as there are plenty of other mailing
lists available, which you can find
here<http://mono-project.com/Mailing_Lists> [2]. If
your idea involves an external project, you should also contact the
developers in project-specific mailing lists as well.

And, of course, IRC is where everyone is, in the irc.gnome.org server.
There's the #mono channel, for general Mono discussions, #monodev for Mono
development, #monodevelop for MonoDevelop, and #monosoc for GSoC-specific
questions and saying hi to your fellow students.

If you're interested in mentoring or other administrative questions, send
an email to the Mono GSoC admins at soc at xamarin.com.

Happy coding!
