You can give it try with a new kernel, but it is also possible to make 
WinForms working with a 2.4 kernel. I installed Mono Beta 1 via Red Carpet 
on a Suse9.0 with kernel 2.4 and it worked. Now I have installed it on 
Suse9.1 with kernel 26 and it is still working.

Alain, what version of Mono are you running, which distro, how did you 
install mono and so on... I think, we need some more informations.
