[Mono-osx] Update package fails to install

Hi,

In MonoDevelop on the Mac, "Check for Updates" yields "MonoTouch
6.0.6". When I install it, I am prompted for the admin password and
then immediately after that, I get a window:

Xamarin Update
Error
Package failed to install
    [Close]

I have tried restarting MonoDevelop and made multiple attempts, but
the result is always the same. Other updates, such as those to
MonoDevelop, have worked fine.

How do I get past this?

Or at least, how do I get more info about what is wrong?

Environment:
  Update channel: Stable
  MonoDevelop: 3.0.5
  Mono JIT compiler version 2.10.9 (tarball Mon May  7 20:25:51 EDT 2012)
  Mac 10.6.8
