[Mono-osx] Mono 2.10.5 - MonoDevelop crashes with exit code 255

I'm getting the same error.
when I "open /Applications/MonoDevelop.app/" I get: 
"/LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file
/Applications/MonoDevelop.app./"
which shows 
"/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[225]
([0x0-0x3a03a].com.ximian.monodevelop[627]): Exited with exit code: 255/" 
in the system log.

I just updated from MonoDevelop 2.6 to 2.8, now I can't launch 2.6 when I
try downgrading.
I ran a permissions cleanup from Disk Utility hoping that would fix
something, but it didn't.
I have mucked around with the
"//Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current/lib/mono/gac/gtk-sharp/2.12.0.0__35e10195dab3c99f/gtk-sharp.dll.config/"
file, to no avail. All of the dlls referenced are all in the same folder.

I'm totally stuck; any help would be appreciated.
