[Mono-osx] MonoMac.AppKit.NSWorkspace hangs

A bit of additional information on the following line of code hanging

MonoMac.AppKit.NSWorkspace workspace =
MonoMac.AppKit.NSWorkspace.SharedWorkspace; 

I'm calling it from within an application that uses Gt#.  I'm thinking
that's a hint.
