Correct, the VM has not been ported to the MacOS X 64-bit ABI.

It is not a simple task, and it is not just a matter of  
recompiling.    There are a number of issues that need to be addressed  
before we have Mono available for 64 bit use in OSX (packaging,  
existing libraries, ports and much more).
