[Mono-osx] Configure error: C compiler

I've got Mac OS X 10.5.6 on a PowerPC G5 and I've installed the MonoFramework
2.2.5 and the MonoDevelop 1.9.1.1 and I've extracted the
cocoa-sharp-0.9.4.tar.bz2 ....

But when I try to run the ./configure command it runs for a couple seconds
and when it checks for C compiler default output file name... it gives the
error "configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables".

Any ideas? I am EXTREMEMLY new to this.
