Interestingly, I just managed to compile on ppc without such problems
whereas the same SVN revision on i386 fails to bootstrap... As to the
cause, make calls mono-wrapper which calls mono which calls mcs.exe,
so I guess it's either the mono runtime or mcs...
I compile on a MacBook, where the fan steadily powers up during make
(or at least it seems so), then reaching the initial System.Xml.dll
compilation it quickly powers down again, activity ceases, resulting
in the numbers and analysis output (deadlock?) I posted on Mono-list
in the io-layer thread.
