... Let me stop you right there. Because to me, the only problem is the fact that GTK is not natively included with either windows, mac, or mobile OSes, and due to LGPL, it's very unclear if you can legally bundle it with your application. 

GTK is LGPL, not GPL. But you need a lawyer to understand if that's ok for you, because the GPL itself is one long-ass license, and the "Lesser" part almost doubles its length. It's not an attractive license, like MIT.
