[Mono-list] very basic lost beginner - help please

I was directed to install mono so that my dive computer software would work.
I run MacOS Mavericks. I have run the installer, but once I go through the
installer program (it seems to want to put things in normal hard drive
places, unzips/installs normally) however once it auto closes, nothing seems
to happen and it does not appear in my applications folder. 

Honestly I'm not sure what this software is supposed to do other than that
it is required for my dive computer. If I try and run the dive comp
software, the program (suuntoDM$.dmg) doesn't seem to load either. 

I am presently located outside the US, which makes calling in to tech
support for the dive computer basically impossible (I can do it, but not
from in front of my desktop, argh). Any help you can offer me is greatly
greatly appreciated.
