[Mono-list] monodevelop question

Hi,
I'm trying to build sdrsharp, which I can from the CLI with 
xbuild /t:Rebuild /p:Configuration=Release SDRSharp.sln
But if I try with monodevelop once sdrsharp.sln is selected, its listed
BUT the build menu is greyed out.
I tried making the .sln file executable, but that had no effect

What magic incantations with the mouse do I need to make to get the
build menu active.
incidentally once built with xbuild from the CLI starting monodevelop
and selecting the .sln file in release/ shows the build menu functional.
Still doesn't run without exceptions :(
