The latest version of monodevelop is 4.0.13, and in fact, when you follow the download link, what you get is XamarinStudio 4.0.13.

So you're right - and I was only right too by accident.  ;-)  Monodevelop has indeed been superseded by XamarinStudio, but I thought the version of Xamarin Studio available from Xamarin.com was higher than the version of monodevelop being distributed (implying that xamarin studio development had moved in-house) but I was wrong about that.

For all intents and purposes, monodevelop has simply been renamed Xamarin Studio.
