[Mono-list] Building mono 3.0 from source

I've been struggling to get a .NET 4.5 site running under Mono 3.0 .  The
current sites are running on an older Cent OS 5.5 server, and I've since
decided to move to Cent OS 6.6 and rebuild the server from scratch to
eliminate all possible variables from the equation.

I am at the point now where it's looking for a previous version of Mono to
install.  I definitely don't want to do this since I don't want any added
complications.  The mono-lite option looks perfect, but the tarball
provided by the make script doesn't contain gmcs.  Any ideas?
