You should use latest available version of mono. Now, it is version 3.0.10.

I was solving this problem too. Version 3.0.10 is not available as tarball
yet. If you want to use latest version you should compile mono 3.0.10 from 
git <https://github.com/mono/mono>   but it is more difficult. Find  commit
<https://github.com/mono/mono/commit/205724650b727ac32fc753f7a74230f61f03dcde>  
.This commit is tagged: "Bump version to 3.0.10" so it is latest version
specified by mono contributors. Clone git with this commit and build it.
