[Mono-list] 11 Queens problem slow on mono

Hello,

The  11 queens problem (similar to the 8 queens problem) from the book "F#
for Scientists" runs in 15.7 seconds on mono 2.10.5 (Fedora 15) and in 6.03
seconds on visual studio 2010 (Windows XP), using the same computer.

Is this difference to be expected ?  I tried mono optimizations, but they
just made things run slower.
Any suggestions?
