[Mono-list] web server

If you're planning to build/deploy a web server using a high level language, is C# / mono / .Net a good option?  Does it have something analogous to django, jsp, etc?  What web server or framework would you expect to use?

I'd just like to know if this is competitive against java/php/python in the space of web application development.
