If you want Mono on AIX, you'll likely need to get your hands dirty.  
Check out the Mono-dev list archives, the last message on AIX was in  
December 2009 by Miguel, saying that an experimental environment  
variable was added to tackle the null reference issue. There was no  
public feedback on that to date.

In May 2009, Randall Stewart attempted a port and posted a couple of  
messages on his progress, don't know how far he finally got? Haven't  
noticed any patch on the list.
