I feel your pain. I would also love to use Powershell on (in my case) Mac OS
X.

I also found Pash to be less than current and apparently abandoned.

The reason Microsoft's Powershell doesn't work on Mono is that it is a
Windows (not a .NET) program that merely makes use of .NET.

The good news is that the Powershell team at Microsoft are aware of the
issue and are, as far as I know, considering a way to solve this problem.
But until then we have to use Bash on UNIX and Powershell on Windows.
