yes I saw it, but

make EXTERNAL_MCS=/foo/bar/mcs EXTERNAL_RUNTIME=/somewhere/else/mono

is not so clear

should I do the make install first then reference the install path for MCS
and MONO?
or should I point to a directory in my build? but where?
