[Mono-list] Application finished but mono runtime just hangs (Ctrl-C exists)

This is not likely your situation but just in case... I had a mono program
program would not end on Windows only (linux worked great) when it was
dependent on linking with the lib cairo dll (the unmanaged part I believe). 
It would not even respond to Ctrl-C and had to be ended via process manager
every time I ran it.  Perhaps Cario was not responding to dll unload (if
such a call) or release of resource.
