[Mono-list] Re gistry questions

I am new to Mono, so please forgive me if this has been asked before

I have read that on Linux, Mono expects an XML file as a simulation of the
registry on Windows.  Can someone please tell me the format the XML file
should be in and where exactly the file should be placed?
